Postponed Indeedy

The shit, my friends, is hitting the proverbial fan: a Zappa Plays Zappa concert at Le Zenith (Paris, France) is officially annulled. Some vague mention of “maybe sometime in 2006”. Tickets refundable.
Hurray for ZFT!

I’ve ust been talking to the hungarian “organisers” (www.muco.hu), and they did not even get an official note about the tour itself (I was the first to mention them that they “will” sell the tickets…), so that’s the reason they did not even know adout the postponement. The girl told me she will look after it and they will give a kind of official statement about it.

For some reason I find this extremely funny. I’m chuckling away here. :D

As for postponement and anullations at the ZFT: I assume it’s a “conceptual continuity” thing…

    I just got a letter:
“megnéztem az oldalt (www.zappa.com)tényleg ott szerepel egy novemberi dátum. Az oldal készítÅ‘ihez kellene fordulni, hogy miért is került ki a budapesti dátum.

annyit tudok mondani, hogy jelen pillanatban tárgylásokat folytatunk a zenekarral egy jövÅ‘ évi, májusi budapesti koncerttel kapcsolatban de megállapodásunk még nincs a zenkarral.”

    Clear? :-) OK? I’ll help:
“I was looking at their page (www.zappa.com), and there definitely is a november date. The owner of the page should be asked, why did they posted that info there.

All I can say, that at this moment we are having negotiainos with the band about a show in next may in Budapest, but we have no official agreement yet.”

    I am disappointed.

I can’t believe that some people openly
    exibit happiness at someone else’s
    misfortune. Is that schadenfreude?

Whatever it is, it’s certainly just sad.

  6. Scott: are you talking about schadenfreude directed at ZFT, or directed at those who’ve bought tickets?

  7. Scott says:

    …directed at whomever.

Reading that kind of thing here is like walking up on some VOMIT on the sidewalk.

All of these useless bad feelings and meaningless resentment toward people…tish, tish. Hey, if it makes you feel “edgy” or “cool” then I guess it’s worth it, huh?

  8. Dr Sharleena says:

    I don’t get you, Scott.
In the first place, i hadn’t seen anyone here “openly exhibing happiness at someone else’s misfortune”.
In any case, which misfortune? Do you have any information we don’t have?
Secondly, how should a person that already bought a ticket feel, if rumours are that the show that is expecting to attend won’t take place as scheduled?
Bad feelings are not meant to be “edgy” or “cool”, they just come from uncertainty and bad procedures…

  9. Oh come on Scott, where’s your sense of humour? Am I to put up obituaries here for every scheduled ZPZ concert that gets cancelled? Am I expected to feel sorry for a Family Trust that hadn’t the faintest idea of what they were getting themselves into? ZFT has built up the hype, and now it’s killing them. Yes, it’s a sad sad thing. But to dismiss the comments to this post as “vomit on the sidewalk” is to turn a blind eye to reality. Have you checked it lately?

    …been awhile.

    Ist das nicht unheimlich?
