What’s a “quango” (other than a word than rhymes with tango, or “poo-poo poo poo”)?

Yes indeed Brainlock1, Hats off to Roy Harper! That was some pretty funny shit . . . I mean, poo-poo. Now, where’s my 5 year old? Finally, a socially redeeming diddy for my kiddy!

    Thanks, Hugh!
(Slamming head on table, wondering why I didn’t simply google it myself)

  7. Hugh says:

You’re welcome, Sofa. I think it’s the word of the day!
I’ve got to go. I think I just QAUNGOED my retirement fund!

  8. Roland says:

(Just changed one word of this wonderful Kate Bush song. Hope you can spot it!)

    bang! goes another quango
On the bonnet of the van.
See the light ram through the gaps in the land.
Many an aborigines mistaken for a tree
til you near him on the motorway
And the tree begin to breathe.
See the light ram through the gaps in the land.

I used to work for a quango ages ago – the Local Government Commission. I set up their financial system and their first computers. The best part of the job was organising the lunches for the days when the Commission met formally. We’d always over-order so the rest of us could tuck in afterwards. Better than working in a gas station at any rate.

As for Roy Harper. What a fruitcake! I seem to remember seeing him supporting some enormous rock band way back about forty years ago. Can’t quite place it though, brain cells not what they were and I’ve only just woken up.
