wow wow yes yes wo wow ecstasy ecstasy!
    (when?)

  2. Paul Sempschi says:

I’ve cracked the code, “Roxy” is Gailspeak for “not gonna happen”.

Which is a bit of a relief re:the non-release of “Son of Roxy”. This will give them more opportunity to get the Ruben and Philly Cheeze discs out.

    Wanna buy a hat?

  3. sterbus says:

If this will finally happen, we won’t have nothing to complain about … please, PLEASE, WE CHANGED OUR MINDS, DON’T RELEASE IT !!!!

  4. Dweeva says:

Hey, he stole my line!!! This OFFICIALY puts me off commenting on this site. NO, really.

I REALLY, TRULY FUCKING MEAN IT THIS TIME!!!

  5. Dweeva says:

Wait a minute…what does buying a hat have to do with this thread, anyway?

    OK, I’m done. Really. O&O

    ciao, babies!

  6. roxy says:

i went to ryko disk website and i dont see a listing of the fz releases anywhere so what happend there . did they move ? thank you for your answers:)

  7. vince says:

…..well, let ’em wait! I, for one, am so dirt-fuck poor, I’m glad they haven’t put shit out this year!

  8. Geoff says:

Roxy? What is it 2003? Am I watching the DVD extras on “Baby Snakes?”

    I got excited then…..

And I will only get excited when it is in my DVD player

Re: Roxy. Less talk more action. I’ll believe it when I see it. Personally, I’m so tired of all the Roxy rumors. Frankly, Gail, Dweezil, and the rest of the folks at the ZFT – your reputation is hanging in the balance with this one.

You can only cry “Roxy” so many times…

“On March 23, 2006, it was announced that Warner Music Group acquired the Ryko Corporation for $67.5 million. When Warner bought Ryko, it acquired the label’s Frank Zappa master tapes, entitling Warner to any reissue rights—an irony considering Zappa’s outspoken hatred for the major record label. During this same year, the independent publishing company EverGreen Copyrights purchased the Rykomusic publishing catalogue, among others.
In 2009, Ryko Distribution was folded into Alternative Distribution Alliance. Currently, ADA acts as the distributor for all Rykodisc releases in the United States.”

Apparently, FZ’s catalogue has been sold, then re-sold, and is now the property of EverGreen Copyrights. Will they be releasing any of Zappa’s catalogue any time soon?

Your guess is as good as mine, roxy.

“GOT” as in past tense, as in when it was stated that this thing was going to come out almost 7 years ago “excited”

  12. profusion says:

They haven’t even released the various “official bootlegs” from the ZPZ “You Can’t Fit That Onstage Anymore” tour yet. Wonder if that is now a dead letter?

  13. Hugh says:

Roxy, you’re such a f**kin’ little tease. Either put out or stay home with yer mama! I get tired of hearing about you coming. If yer gonna cum, then cum already!

Wanna buy a rubber hat for yer Wild Man Fisher?

Bat Chain Puller and Edgard Varese Tapes are planning a vault heist to spring Miss Roxy DVD.

  15. Jamez says:

I want the Roxy DVD NOW!!!

  16. exile says:

Actually, I’d be happier to see “Dance Me This” released. It was ready to go in 1993. Um….?

  17. Chuck says:

I agree with Dance Me This as being the most essential release.

Roxy video I think is the ZFT’s “Chinese Democracy” … a long time in the making with massive expectation, but will it really live up to the expectations? The Roxy and Elsewhere album has a lot of post production of the best recordings FZ selected to make something quite spectacular. The other recordings from the shows are exceedingly good, while the video segments that have come out over the years are entertaining if not mindblowing.

All in all, I think when it comes out it will be very good but not the massive piece of spectacularness we all dream of.

  18. Paul Sempschi says:

Well what are you expecting? It’s a movie about a concert. It will be like Baby Snakes without the claymation. Perhaps without the radical Zappaesque editing. To be excited is more than understandable, to be disappointed is a bit perplexing. Unless there’s issues with the sound/video quality.

  19. Harry Barris says:

Yeah, I agree–don’t be so pessimistic: where else are you going to see those particular musicians in late-1973 form live?!

Is this the only video footage of the two drummer line-up? I think so. The music alone (hopefully) should justify listening as a representation of more of an actual live concert in terms of running length, song order(?) and overdubs. (Were all three nights filmed?)

I can only hope it is never released though, because if so, i would have to rescind my personal ZFT boycott which has been ongoing for some time. (Last item purchased–& mostly satisfied with–was Imaginary Diseases when it was pre-order.)

If the ROXY DVD only equals the Roxy & Elsewhere album in audio quality, then it will already be a winner in my opinion.

  22. Chicken to measure it says:
…only equals the Roxy & Elsewhere album in audio quality
ONLY equals? That, in itself, is quite a high standard by which to measure. Given that, perhaps you will accept a DVD rendition of the ZFT office staff lip-synching to a copy of the album as originally released?

    measure that!

LOL! You kill me, Chicken to measure it!

The way I figure it, Chicken to measure it, Zappa recorded the entire Roxy performance. What I so enjoyed about the Roxy & Elsewhere album when it was released was the limited overdubbing – a truly live Zappa audio experience wouldn’t you agree? Zappa also had the entire performance filmed from multiple camera angles. Given the technologies available today, really how difficult is it to bring these elements into synch? It’s not as if the tapes have been lying around discarded and forgotten, have they? In fact, if anything, mine is a minimum expectation. A Roxy DVD release will be instantly compared to R & E for sheer audio standards.

At least that’s how I measure it!

You dont think by any chance that Frank would try something fresher than jusr the old performances? What are the odds that he DID remix the 1987 dub with Wakerman kick pedal and Barrow bass? Perhaps a new flanger guitar… perhaps some bold new synclavier interpretations over an extended Echidna’s performance.

Who would appreciate it’s innovation? Who would lead a riot?
