Fuck yeah! Listening to SUAPYG right now!
Wow. KUR for the functionally illiterate, Barry.

It does help, Barry! One attribute of the majority of Zappa/Mothers fans I have encountered over the decades has been an abiding sense of literacy. Indeed, in comparison, FZ websites (KUR, Idiot Bastard Son, Zappa In France, Information Is Not Knowledge) are among the most literate on the internet by far.

No, certainly not as a listener. For that, the only prerequisite are ears, and a decent stereo system. However, to discuss Zappa and his music, a certain level of literacy is necessary to do justice to the material. That said, I have always found the level of literacy among Zappa/Mothers fans to be among the very highest. Whether this has something to do with the massive post-secondary, college level fan base that Zappa appealed to on his many tours, I’m not entirely sure.
Of this I am sure, Zappa certainly appealed to his literate fans in the many interviews which he gave, often giving fans pause for thought on any manner of vital issues of the day.
Getting back to website at hand though, Barry, “Fuck Yeah Frank Zappa: For All Your Frank Zappa Needs”, a Zappa weblog is something more than just click and listen, don’t you think? Otherwise, why would we put in the time and thought at KUR like we do? Hey, I’m all for more FZ websites, too. I just think they should rise to a certain artistic and literacy level, don’t you?
Ben Twatson rose to a certain artistic and literary level and look where that got us!
But as the man said, if you want to get an education, go to the library. ‘Click and listen’ can only get you so far. Information is not knowledge — you need intelligence to process it, and that requires active participation.

Yes, for one thing, it got us to a point where people like you pointlessly call the guy ‘Twatson’.

Barry, award this man a golden muffin!
Project/Object tour starts in Albany today!
