Wow wow wow, this is fantastic news to wake up to.
Also: I’ve been waiting for eight years to be able to say the following three words and now I finally can: NO MORE BUSH! Aaaaahhh…
Thank you America!

Are speaking for Alex or the entire country?
“Let’s not start sucking each other’s dick just yet.”
District of Columbia and Hawaii made the real statement: 93% and 72% of the votes for Obama. Now let’s see what’s really happening …

I concur… We will see what happens.
Voting for change does not guarantee that change will occur.
(I smell a parody coming on)
Sing with me kids:
Now W told the boogie men
You have to let that niggah drop
The oil down the desert way
Has been shakin to the top
Then W drove his cadillac
He went a cruisin down the square
The Public was a waiting
With just an angry stare…
(Chorus)
The shareef won’t like it
Barack in the casbah
Barack in the casbah
We hope that he can right it
Barack in the casbah
Barack in the casbah
You’re welcome, foreigner.
How funny. I remember feeling the way some of you seem to feel today back in ’97 when Blair ended 18 years of Tory rule. Brave new world? Yeah, sure……..

Apple-and-orange comparisons aside: Blair wasn’t running against a VeePee whose mind boggling utter complete ignorance she actually took pride in, one who thinks she knows about world politics because she can see Russia from her state, one to whom separation of church and state is non-existent, one who in the end has done nothing but push religious soft spot buttons in order to gain power.
A McCain presidency I could have begrudgingly lived with — a Palin as VP however would have been down right frightening. Not to mention a Palin as Pres — quite a probable scenario mind you, given McCain’s age and health record.
I could go on but hey: the dice have been thrown. Rien ne va plus!
See, this why I like you, Barry.
I didn’t think the Rednecks had it in them. Of course it’s not a complete turn-around by any means. Look a little closer and you’ll see exactly what the U.S. told the rest of the world yesterday:
” We’re finally less frightened of black people than we are of gay people.”
Better than nothing I guess.
“Obama Sin Laden”, now I can say this… using this pun McCain would have won!
(I’m for Barack, anyway)
Ah now, we agree about Palin, Barry. From pushing religious hot spot buttons to pushing the big red one. One small step for a woman who can see Russia from her state (of mind?). Jeez. Now that’s scary.

yeah, Thatcher had gone bye-bye by then…
of course, I’m skeptical about the whole Thing and find the unmentioned assumption that he’ll be a great leader by virtue of his race repugnant (not that I’m accusing anyone here of that, it’s more a knee-jerk liberal Jon Stewart crowd 1st year university trend)- yeah, he’s got some ‘good’ ideas but I doubt you could make it this far in politics without earning your bones.
Watch out Iran, stay tuned Afghanistan, he’s about to make The New Deal:

if not… if he is as a great as people think, surely, he’ll get the Kennedy treatment, Xst knows he’ll be in good company.
the revolution will not be televised
the revolution will be brought to you live.
Yesterday in discussions on TV here in Germany some people behaved like he is the new Messiah or “Führer”. Dangerous business!

please don’t underestimate what damage that fool can do in 75 days
in the land of unlimited posibilities one could try in a few years: the youngest, female, third of the same family and let one of the Bush daughters run for pres. how’s that for “NO MORE BUSH”?
one of the commenators in an Austrian papers says: The best and worst of the new presidency is: Bush was president.
The only thing that spoilt it for me was seeing Jesse Jackson in the crowd. He’s one of biggest frauds ever. Just listen to ‘Rhymin’ Man’ on ‘Broadway The Hard Way’ for Frank’s opinion of him.

I thought they’d use, “Obama ‘an Biden”, personally.

I think Jesse Jackson (and many others) are in for a big surprise when Obama takes office. From his own history, I have learned, Obama is much more of pragmatist than these civil rights veterans are going to be comfortable with (and no doubt Jesse Jackson will soon be one of Obama’s chief critics — if Obama does what he says he will do, at least on the domestic front, that is).
I agree – Mr. O is in a different league than Jesse and all those old school dudes.
If only Frank could have beheld Palin. Sigh.

Americans are too lazy to perpetrate a third reich lite.
Although, the victory speech stage setup did sorta look like something out of “Triumph of the Will” it probably more like “Beatles at Shea”.
Read this!!! (Obama related)

Good to see I wasn’t the only one thinking about “Rhymin’ Man.” I do think this was a momentous occasion – and I can certainly understand Jackson shedding tears at witnessing history – but you better believe I was thinking “Howdy friends, my name is Jess!”
Are speaking for Alex or the entire country?
Not sure if that was a jab or a joke…but it’s flattering just the same. I belong to an international online fan community!
But I will say upon Obama’s victory, I had tears in my eyes. All of a sudden, I reinvested my faith in this country. He’s not perfect, but he’ll have his work cut out for him fixing Bush’s and Clinton’s (Um, NAFTA? The removal of certain safety nets implemented during the Depression that were just as responsible for the economic dip we’ve had? This guy ain’t no knight in shining armor…) fuck-ups. Never mind his own ideas and policies are sound, sane, and don’t favor big business.
Jesse has already had to apologize for telling us what he’d really like to do to the president-elect…
– and I can certainly understand Jackson shedding tears at witnessing history –
Those tears being shed by Jesse were for himself. He is now completely reduced to a footnote in history. His next shot at fame might be as Big Daddy to Jesse, Jr., perhaps the next junior senator from Illinois.
Obama has learned many lessons from Jesse leading to his success. Let’s hope one of them is to keep his pants on in public!
The Onion
I admit I cried when they announced Obama won. Then I read “The Onion” article and I laughed till I cried(pun intended).
Of course, a head of cabbage would be an improvement over “Dubya”!
Never mind his own ideas and policies are sound, sane, and don’t favor big business.
Did you take a look at his cabinent?
There’s a lot of left-overs from the CFR, let’s face it, you Yankee folks is going to Iran… stayin’ in Iraq and perhaps a North American Union will be in the pipeline for his second term…
I’m sure the NAU’ll go through without resistance from the peasantry, if the Obama administration can put the *ahem* proper face on it…
I keep forgetting you’re in staunch opposition to the American government regardless of who’s in charge. Unless it’s Ron Paul.
What can I say? I like my libertarians…

Time to wake up now and smell the coffee. Politicians don’t fix or change a thing: ordinary people do (politicians just take the credit). After 8 years of George W. and the 8 years of psuedo-republican rule of the Clinton/Gore administration, people should know by now that no politician – even Obama – can solve their problems. It’s a collective effort.
Those tears being shed by Jesse were for himself. He is now completely reduced to a footnote in history.
C’mon. I’m not a fan of Jackson either, but…you need to crank your imagination up a bit and think about what being his age and black in the US was like on that day. LOTS of black folks (and not only black) cried.
Barry is right about the apples/oranges thing. Obama is simply a huge improvement at the right time. Thank god.

Jesse may also have been shedding tears for the boatload of cash it was going to take to get jr. into the Illinois senate seat.
