Why Yahoo! Sucks Big Time

I hate Yahoo. I loathe Yahoo. First they sign me up for a shitload of sponsored emails without my consent, next thing you know, they tell me my inbox is just about fullfull of the very crap they keep sending me. The choice of a new generation kids: MyWay.com. Yahoo is toast!

There’s popup-less email there too… What do you say we make a run for sinatra@myway.com?

  2. SOFA says:

Hmmmm… Seems I recall our discussing this “sponsored email” dealie when it first was announced. I assumed that most of us in that conversation, set their preferences to NOT receive said crap. I know I’ve received no such crap from them…
This, of course, is not to say that yahoo doesn’t suck…
But, I sense a culprit in this that’s pretty close to home – Barry.

Well I did change my preferences to not receive their “special deals” right from the beginning, but lately the amount of spam I’m getting has gone up considerably. So I’m guessing it doesn’t make any difference what setting you apply… I only use the address for yahoogroup purposes, hardly ever get any “valid” mails there. So 99% of my inbox is crap I didn’t ask for! I have to login there every so often to remove it, so my inbox isn’t deleted or something. Which, in my opinion, sucks big time…

I have been getting more spam as well. I attributed it to posting on newsgroups not Yahoo. If so, they are still at fault, since their spam guard is not working worth shit then. An alternative is worth looking into. They put a navigation bar on my computer without asking me! I removed it, but still the annoyance factor is rising.

    ..uh, may I just say,

It’s inevitable, and SPAM can be fun.

  6. Barry says:

To hear this from you, Bob, is truly a surreal experience! ;-)
And yeah, DebK, I haven’t even BEGUN to talk about the pop-ups, the pop-unders, the huge Flash ads pushing my messages out of the window, and the crappy “SpamGuard”™. The unfortunate thing is you gotta have a yahoo ID in order to use yahoogroups. Things were a lot better when the groups were still hosted at eGroups…

I guess my website devoted to YAHOO SUCKS says most of it. I’ll be adding weekly to it.

My favorite thing about Yahoo is the email “spam guards” which reduce spam to my inbox to “only” 72 offers per day for Viagra, opportunities to make money if ONLY I will send NuBatu from Nigeria my checking acct. number, and offers from Phoenix Online. Of course, one can also take time to marvel at the splendor of the propaganda -I mean, “news”- on the home page. I mean, c’mon. Could the “news” on Yahoo be any further to the left? PRAVDA isn’t even THAT liberal!!! I use a wide variety of search engines, and I’m happy to say that Yahoo ISN’T one of them anymore. As for my email acct w/Yahoo? Forget abboud it -let it amass to 143% capacity -I ain’t gonna answer it anymore!
