Zappa 37

Zappa37 is a nice Zappa-orientated weblog which, for some bizarre reason, uses a picture of me with my tinfoil helmet on to indicate its “Articles” category. Color me flattered! Via that site, I came across this article on The Amazing Mr. Bickford.

What a dashing young man you are!

  4. Haha! Yes indeed, guilty as charged! Strange that the site was found so quickly, I haven’t even finished it yet! I was looking for something to use as an icon to represent “web articles” to point out to my readers (all 4 of them). It just made sense to use my favorite site (this one!) to swipe a picture from. I was planning to email you before I did any sort of send-off of my site, but it looks like the cat is out of the bag! Thanks for the mention, I was really shocked to see my site in someone else’s XML feed today! I hope I can bring some fun and interesting info to my fellow Zappa fans. Also, my personal page is over at http://yashar37.ath.cx if anyone is interested in personal pages. Have fun everyone! :D

At least Yashar37 admits to raiding other sites for material; it’s a refreshing characteristic for a garage sale site…

  6. Unfortunately, I realise a lot of the Zappa fans tend to be elitist sometimes. I am not one of those fans. I feel that any and all information should be available not only in one or two places bu everywhere. My site has every intention of letting people know where the informmation originates, I will not just swipe material.

Think of it as a database of sorts, or an encyclopedia. While many of these sites have been around for years, they may not be in the future. I would like to think my contribution was a way to preserve all the information and eventually become a central resource.

That would be my way of saying thanks to all of the other sites for their hard work and my way of not letting it be lost or forgotten. I’d like my site to be a sort of archive. I hope it will be a welcome resource rather than just accusing me of “stealing someone’s material”.

Enough defending myself, let’s enjoy the music and the information, shall we?

Hey Jason, I ain’t complainin’! As I said, I like your site, keep up the good work! :-)

  8. Dr Sharleena says:

No one is complaining, Yashar. I like your site too!

  9. SOFA says:

Yeah, I wasn’t complaining either, Jason – believe it or not. I was merely stating that it was refreshing to see a site that admits where the groundwork was done. As opposed to some cretins who steal from other sites and claim the stuff as their own (or, at least, don’t mention where they got their material.
I think you have a very nice site. Keep of the Z-vangelism!

  10. Hahah, I didn’t mean to make that sound like it was directed at anyone. I guess I have been a bit defensive starting this because I have seen how some of the webmasters of the other sites can get. I do lurk in a.f.f-z! they can be a fiesty bunch if rubbed the wrong way! I guess I do sometimes feel like I am swiping “other people’s stuff”, and I feel compelled to defend it, “just in case”, lol… :D

But hey, it’s all good! I’m mainly in it for the music!
