European journalists

Just now on Flemmish Radio One: journalist Jo Vandamme recalls meeting Frank Zappa for an interview. A free, short translation:
(Vandamme:) “So we come in his house and there’s Frank sitting on something of a throne (…) and then he says: “Aah so good to meet European journalists! You know these american journalists are as dumb as pigs. And me, I’m a smart person you know, I know what’s going on in the world; you know ’cause I watch CNN!”. Upon which Vandamme scratches his head and asks: “Do you read any newspapers Mr. Zappa?” “No, don’t have time for those.”
Then they start to talk about the troubles FZ’s had with the average American because of the nature of his music and shows, and FZ says: “That’s because I’m a liberal. That’s why I love Margaret Thatcher! She’s a liberal too.” Vandamme scratches the back of his head again and says: “but erh… Thatcher is a conservative Mr. Zappa!”
Zappa retorts: “She’s right wing? You mean to tell me I’ve been having sympathy for Mrs. Thatcher all these years and she’s right wing? See! You european journalists, so much better informed!”
