Talk about negative dialectics: “My name is Tanya Headon and I hate music. All of it. The purpose of this weblog is a simple one: to detail, week on week, the failings and infinite wretchedness of the stuff, building into an encyclopaedia of musical badness.”

How could I but help myself from being drawn to the section entitled “The Unbearable Shiteness Of Ian” ?.
Let’s see… I’m guessing this is a young lady somewhere in the vicinity of her early to mid twenties who decided that all music sucks after either her mom wouldn’t let her join a Spice Girls wanna-be group in school, or she joined the group and they kicked her out because she coudn’t carry a tune in a cargo hold? I read through several of her “critiques” and not only is she waxing generic complaints based in the most minimal of musical insight, she’s got most of her “facts” wrong. Take the Joni Mitchell diatribe for instance. She strikes a blow against Joni’s painting her own album covers and sites the worst example as the cover for “Blue” a photograph taken by Tim Considine. And then goes on to site a prime example of her poor song-writing in “Twisted” which was, in fact, written by Annie Ross of Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. What a wanket!
What do you reckon to the advertising on the ‘Which Drug Has Inspired The Worst Pop Music?’. Do you think yon Tanya would give it creativity credibility. And with ian’s encouragement for viewing his eponymous critique, ‘Ian Dury … the monotonous one’, i get the idea she’s right, she doesn’t like music. Why does she write about it ? What next the agoraphobics guide to prairies and plains.
