Bogus Pomp Is Good

Of all the Zappa cover bands Bogus Pomp is the one that is really close to my heart. Great music, fine solos, elaborated orchestration, and sometimes Napoleon Murphy Brock, as dessert. Here are some recordings from 2004 (Thanks to Jerry Outlaw, guitar player) – and hey, here’s the beautiful Umbrellas from the same show, from Zomby Woof’s page.

I like when Jerry thinks he’s Deniro, and
    tries to act like Frank.
    A million laughs….

I hate to be a grouch, but why is it that, when people re-arrange Zappa music, that they often get basic notes wrong? I’m not talking about new arrangement ideas people bring to the music, but wrong notes. If you listen to this ‘Little Unbrellas’ cut (what a great idea to cover that song), you hear that he’s got the melody wrong (nice arrangement otherwise!). Seems to me that if you’re going to go to all the trouble to orchestrate something, you’d get the basic stuff right!

It came back, now it works for me again.

I just cannot download this stuff!! I’ve tried repeatedly, using combinations of Firefox, Opera and Internet Explorer – with and without a download manager, etc etc. Nothing!!

    Any tips?

    Cheers,
    Danny
