It’s something of a Holy Grail among FZ-fans: Amougies ’69, where Zappa “supposedly” went onstage to jam along with Pink Floyd! In the past, recordings of this gig had surfaced but whether it was really FZ playing remained questionable. Now, apparently a “legit” recording has finally been unearthed which can be downloaded at dimeadozen. See also the related zappateers thread. Anyone get a chance to give this a listen?

The godaweful truth is that I lost my password for dimeadozen god knows way back when! :(
Our only hope than if there will be someone to share this in mp3… ;-) Hopefully! :-)
I remember listening to French radio under the bedclothes and it wasn’t “interstellar Overdrive” it was “careful With That Axe Eugene” (I think)
No need for Dime, the files are also available on usenet: alt.binaries.zappafiles in …..ape format. Phew
Also available here now … in flac:

I don’t suppose this could magically appear on Uncle Beat some time, could it?
@vrnzr : thanks! I was looking for that over there. Downloading it right now.
So let us know if it is and how it sounds!
I wonder how many other single tracks out there deserve their own website and detailed review?
It is without a doubt Interstellar Overdrive! The audio is surprisinly good! I haven’t listened to the other tracks just yet, but the Pink Floyd is a treasure!
There is a very good chance of this appearing on Uncle Beat!! The question is…what other juicey nuggets to include?!
rfrong: vrnzr will be sending this to me shortly – expect a vine to appear on UB soon. (thanks vrnzr!)
Already posted it…
Tell you what…why don’t we split the vine right from the get go…vrnzr for the wolrd, and I’ll distribute to the Americas. HowZZat sound?
Sure, that’s okay by me. Question: what’s included in your VO rfrong, and what’s included in your VO, vrnzr? Just the FZ/PinkFloyd gig, or more? I wouldn’t want to start a European vine that contains less than the US vine (or vice versa). Gentlemen: start yer interstellar overdrive! ;)
So this is the FZ/PF performance for sure? If so, how does Frank sound? Not to mention the audio quality….
