Premature Death of Rock Stars keeps a list of rock stars and their date/cause of death. According to their calculations, the average rock star lives to be 36.9 years old. At least they have more fun while it lasts! :)

    There seems to be a tiny flaw in the premise behind these statistics. ‘Rock star’ is a very new category compared to ‘American’, and by definition the only stars here are dead ones – it doesn’t take into account those who are still alive, some of whom are still part of the first generation of Rock. (The Everly Brothers are on tour again for example.) Just look at those ancient Rolling Stones still touring for Christ’s sake. By the time Sir Mick (or the indestrucible Keef) kicks the bucket, they’ll push the average up to near 100!
