Pretty damn cool: the “greatest” 500 albums available for download — at around $1 a piece. Didn’t have time to check if any Zappa is available but #58’s an odd pick though, all things considered…

#58 is not an odd choice at all! In 1998 the uk chainstore HMV did a poll amongst customers asking which was the top album of all time, and this “unlistenable” “inaccessible” album came in at number 42!
No mention of Mr Zappa.
I think a more acurate name for the list would be….
“500 albums which are currently recognised by an body of no real importance as having some musical value and/or historical significance from the genre of popular music that Allofmp3.com could get the rights to sell for $1 each”
Ok, It’s not very catchy, but I do enjoy being a pedant.
That’s exactly where #58 is cataloged in my collection – vinyl, of course – right there between Beggar’s Banquet and Meet The Beatles, followed closely by Sly’s greatest hits.
Those were the days…dance to the music!
i spotted 2: freak out & woiiftm…predictable. there’s lots of good albums on the list, and just as many duds. who gets paid to decide this shit, anyway? even the best rock critics don’t deserve much more than pauper’s wages. PARASITES.
This site is not legitimate, as they don’t pay royalties of any kind. If you download from this site you are breaking the law… just thought i’d let you know ;)
I didn’t see any Zappa, but of course there are so many other greater artists, like Tracy Chapman and Frank Sinatra (‘Songs for Swingin’ Lovers’).
Lists like this reveal their basic worth…there are some good choices, but also quite a few mounds of dead appliances…
Number 403 is Big Star: “Radio city” and “number one record”. Why actually two records?
Just because in the nineties they have been released together on cd?
Then WOIIFTM could be in the list with Lumpy Gravy, who knows?
It is Russian site.
There’s a long scandal going on – copyright holders have tried to shut down the site, but our administration doesn’t react. 8)
“Reagan! Wake Up!” )))
#243 Freak Out
#296 Woiiftm (funny, Id thought they’d be reversed)
*Allofmp3.com could get the rights to sell for $1 each*
89 or 99 cents per song for a download is straight ROBBERY.
*This site is not legitimate, as they don’t pay royalties of any kind.*
Here’s a clue for record companies! Don’t be so fucking greedy and people won’t run (as much) to pirate music and video.
c’mon everyone. let’s get serious. allofmp3.com knows what they’re doing. can any of you REALLY name a single zappa release that was a more significant recording than #500: the Eurythmics’ Touch?
Hey, don’t touch me Dave Stewart!
Egg and National Health was great!
