Zappa On The TNT Show

Duncan writes in with a little conundrum: spot FZ in this trailer for “The TNT Show”. He’s looped the relevant bit here for convenience.

Questions:

  1. Why was he there?
  2. Is the guy on his left talking to him? If so who is he?
  3. Is the (completely obscured) girl on his right with him?
    If so who is she?
  4. Is there more FZ in the actual film or is that it?

That’s hilarious. He looks bored out of his mind.

Frank is wearing a hat! He didn’t wear hats very often (as far as I can tell) and he looks pretty good in it.

My cat keeps bringing semi-living creatures into the house as little injured gifts to me.
I wind up chasing the tormented rodents all over the room. Mice and baby rabbits mostly.
There are baby turkeys and deer and raccoons and opossums running around all over the joint, but she prefers to consume the small, defenseless game.

    Thanks, kitty…thank you! GOOOOOOD kitty.

  3. Duncan says:

In the early days the hat was part of the image they had. They all wore them to an audition at The Action and were likened to a bunch of Mafia undertakers. It looks like the same hat as the Mondo Hollywood one a year earlier. He was obviously quite fond of it.

    1. Why was he there?
    A. My guess would be that it was a photo op that Herbie arranged…

    2. Is the guy on his left talking to him? If so who is he?
    A. The guy on the left appears more to be singing along, than talking to FZ. The girl on the right looks a bit pensive (nervous?) perhaps?

    3. Is the (completely obscured) girl on his right with him? If so who is she?
    A. She looks more like the “average” teen extra in this trailor, than ‘with’ FZ. I’m thinking more and more that this ‘appearance’ was more of a Herbie arranged thing for publicity’s sake.
Tho Frank – and the other freaks living at the old Log Cabin – was acquainted with David Crosby (playing in the Byrds), so he MIGHT have gone on his own; tho’ I highly doubt it.

    4. Is there more FZ in the actual film or is that it?
    A. Guess we’d have to see the whole production to know that one, yes?
