Ed Seeman’s Zappa Movies

Way cool! Ed Seeman’s “Zappa Recording At The Apostolic”:

This 6minute exerpt is a small portion of the 14 hours I shot with FRANK ZAPPA & the Original Mothers of Invention over a two year period from 1967 to1968 for a film titled “UNCLE MEAT” in 1967.

For more, have a look at Ed’s YouTube profile or visit his homepage. (Thanks MySpace Greg!)

Is it just me or Mr. Seeman’s using some pretty clean-sounding chunks of the all-orchestral Lumpy Gravy on two of his other videos uploaded on YouTube ? (namely “The Zappa Dummy” and “At Home in Greewich Village 1967”)

Sounds like the intrumental interlude from “Invocation And Ritual Dance of the Young Pumpkin” from ‘Absolutely Free’ to me.

  3. ChrisfromParis says:

Yes, on the video that Barry added here (recording session at the Apostolic), that’s “Invocation etc.”. The videos I was writing about are among the others that Ed Seeman posted on YouTube.

Very nice. Film to be honoured.

By the way I was thinking for the first time: FZ was a genuine Italian , ie he played staccato where everybody was expecting him to play legato.

  5. Duncan says:

He is still adding films to YouTube – Zappa Goes To London has just been added.

Yes – Music is from Lumpy Gravy – (Capitol version)

  6. Rob says:

At the very end of London Pt.1 is previously unheard (to me) Lumpy Gravy. Please sir, can I have some more?

  7. Duncan says:

And London Part 5… Is some of that new too?
