Coudal asks: How do you get from Jackson Pollock to Bob Dylan in as few degrees as possible? I’d like to ask the same question, replacing Dylan with Zappa. :)

Pollock once lived in Echo Park, LA.
So did Zappa.
:-)
Is there a prize?
Spoilsport! :)
Dylan had personal contact with Warhol, so the leap from there to Pollack is not far, if there’s a leap at all. You can use the Warhol link to get to Zappa via Lou Reed, whose band “The Velvet Underground” is almost as shitty a group as Frank Zappa’s. I’m sure there are some meaty connections in there for those willing to read the relevant biographies.
Dylan once approached Zappa to produce an album in the 80’s, but FZ’s costs were too high.
degrees of separation should be through people that interacted, I think? How about
Dylan – Allen Ginsberg – William S. Burroughs – Frank Zappa
Bob Dylan> John Lennon >Frank Zappa
Proven by video!:
In addition to Dylan getting the Beatles high (now THAT would be a good youtube video), he once rode around in a taxi with Lennon

and Lennon joined the Mothers onstage for some songs at the Fillmore

The Dylan production thing is the closest, aye–Dylan brought FZ the songs that would become the album “Infidels” and asked him to produce them, and Zappa suggested that he “subcontract them out to Giorgio Moroder.”
