It never occured to me to drop you a line when I uploaded this. Oops. Glad you found it.

  2. Ryan says:

This would have been the easiest show to win, EVER.

  3. Hairfarmer: I was wondering whether it was you outthere on youtube! Great clip, thanks for uploading. :)

  4. Hairfarmer says:

yup. I put a cool vid of ionisations up too.

  5. danny says:

I saw this when it was broadcast in 1979 (not 1978). I knew Frank would not be inclined to even smile at these lame ‘comedians’. This show was enormously popular for a year or so. Frank must have been on a huge promotional binge for Sheik Yerbouti because he was on Make Me Laugh, Dinah Shore and Dance Fever all around the same time.

  6. pops says:

Frank was also on a revamped version of What’s My Line as a mystery guest. If memory serves he stumped the panel. Afterwards he was revelaed Soupy Sales was the only panelist who knew who Frank was because Soupy’s sons, Tony and Hunt, knew Frank.

HAIRFARMER give that ionisation link to everyone. i just watched it and it’s VERY COOL. as far as FZ on this trivial show, he didnt even laugh at the host! what a joke. FZ is waaaay underrated and underappreciated. His mind and music is still ahead of it’s time.

  8. Regyptianofdestiny says:

“An omlette the size of a throw rug!”

what a great joke! Surely Frank has no sense of humour if he doesn’t find THAT funny

  9. xorg says:

Is this a part of ‘the American way of life’ that Dubya Bush started a war to protect?

  10. mcnastie says:

xorg – it’s from 1979. jimmy carter was president.

so, to answer your question directly – no, it’s not.

but everyone in this video DOES seem to have just snorted a yard-long rail of ‘fine columbian’ seconds before the camera captures their horrific grinning and mugging. the host looks like he’s about to have an aneurysm!

gallagher one vs. frank zappa – 2 late 20th century geniuses go toe to toe…zappa narrowly avoids defeat when gallagher breaks out the HI-LARIOUS oversized egg with matching oversized frying pan…

and how about that chair that shoots out of the fucking wall, eh? USA! USA! USA!

  11. zappaprincess1990 says:

This is great, love it!!! Frank was so gorgeous (for a man) !!!! The show looks really corny, but it’s worth watching because of FZ. If anyone else were on there it would suck with a capital S. Love his suit!
There’s another one on YouTube that’s just as wonderful…it’s “St. Alphonso’s Pancake Breakfast” from 1978. It’s absolutely neat-o!!

  12. A Pony Mouse says:

That show was made for Frank. He was a trailblazer at not laughing at lame jokes. Great stuff.
