What’s a guy to do when he doesn’t find anything interesting to post? Why, steal links from friends, silly!
On 6th October 1968, Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention played a 35 Minute live performance for German TV broadcast. Most Material contained Instrumental Versions from “Freak Out”, “We’re Only in It For the Money”, and of course “Uncle Meat”.
Well then.. why don’t you steal all the three parts of it? :-)
Well I do have some dignity, you know!
C’mon…it’s not really stealing when you’re just spreading around what’s already out there and available.
Try telling that to the ZFT! :D
Stealing from a thief is allowed!!! ;-)
Try telling that to the ZarFT!
I have to say, that opening jam is pretty lame. I LOVE Frank and the Mothers, but….there was a reason Frank edited so much. It’s fun to see something new, though! Thanks, guys. (now I have to go evaluate the other parts!)
too much fade cuts and solarization. A beautiful performance, do you think they distorted the footage because the band was so fucking ugly?
What distorted footage?
I gotta say I think that the first five minutes of improv is really beautiful, it just comes from nowhere.
distorted footage = fades, overlays, solarization that make it difficult to discern what is going on. Versus a clear, straight recording of events.
I loved this perfomance since years, but thanks Tube it’s now in color,
thats amazing for ’68, don’t forget. This guys could realy play. king kong alive. Now you see it, now don’t.
I gotta admit I was taken aback by the…uh, MELLOWNESS of it all. Not to mention the YELLOWNESS.
Good stuff nonetheless.
Who owns this stuff? Old Grey Whistle Test put out DVDs of performances from that show (no Zappa), is the same also an option here? There is plenty of great stuff from Beat Club, like Beefheart and King Crimson with Jaimie Muir. This Zappa is great – I even like the yellow and superimpositions, even though the yellow makes me think of bees, which I consider, despite its work ethic and sting, an un-Zappa-like animal. What is a Zappa animal? The glyptodont, the goblin shark.
