Copenhagen ’79

“This week I is being mostly arbitrary.” There is no historical reason why you should own this show: Falkoner Theatre, Copenhagen, March 5th 1979. No premiers, no special guests, and pretty much the usual 1979 set list. So why offer you this show at all?

One reason, and one reason only. That guy with the moustache who occasionally plays a bit of guitar. Tonight Frank is clearly in the mood. Long guitar solos litter this show, and each and every one is a worthy effort. From the opening Deathless Horsie, through to a great Treacherous Cretins at the end, Frank is on tonight.

And that’s all you really need to know…

Plus, there might be some (young) Danes among the users of this mighty website who have been wondering how a Zappa show in Denmark sounded like!
    Guess one…

    Thank You!

Thanks for posting this, its the pure fun, for example the musical-dialog between Vinnie and Frank in Tiny lights – they are on! I remember Frank
saying that Vinnie was his best drummer. We can hear it. GREAT CONCERT!

The 1979 band is woefully under represented in my show collection
    Thanks for sharing this one!

Magic Fingers – I can’t thank you enough!
I’m completely blown away by this concert — the sound quality, the band, the solos, and I have a new appreciation for Warren – he is well represented on this tape and we can hear that he actually has chops. Maybe I’m wrong but seems to me his playing doesn’t really come through in the canonical recordings

    Thanks again for this!

    Thanks for this show!!

Hey guys, really pleased you’re enjoying this one. The ’79 tour is a funny ol’ tour imo. Some shows seem to veer a little towards going through the motions (and as I mentioned, the set-lists don’t really change much from one night to the next, if at all). Yet other shows, like this one……….well, what can one say? Just brilliant. And yes, Warren is no mug………..check out his beautiful “Thanks to Frank” on his album of the same name.
