The Purple Cucumber

On april 30 1995 a Frank Zappa memorial concert took place in Antwerp featuring music from Peter Vermeersch, and performed by the BRTN Philharmonic Orchestra. It was dubbed The Purple Cucumber. For several reasons the recording failed to get released – until recently. An interview by the producer of this release (Zjakki Willems) with Frank Zappa related to The Yellow Shark, can be found right here.

So, anyone here heard this thing yet?

I haven’t, as of yet. I do know that Vermeersch has made some excellent music with belgian group “X-Legged Sally” which had a very Zappaesque feel to it. Plus, there’s a couple of Muffin Men playing on this particular recording, so I figure it should be cool… I’ll give a shout if and when I get my hands on it.
