Hmmm. Most of these people are only famous in Belgium. Mind you, we should all be grateful that a somebody invented the saxophone and it might as well have been a Belgian as anyone else…
The author of this list is obviously NOT a republican. The author is an evil-flip-flop-doer. The title says complete. The disclaimer says by no means complete. Well, which one is it going to be?
Seems that xorg is not well informed. The World Wide Web was a Brittish/Belgian invention (Robert Cailliau co-developed HTML). The new encryption standard was developed in Belgium (Joan Daemen of Proton World International and Vincent Rijmen of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven). ADSL was developed in the Belgian branch of Alcatel. So, Belgians may not be loudmouths, claiming their fame but without these guys we wouldn’t be able to discuss this anyway.
Here I was thinking it was Al Gore who invented the internet. Thanks for the info Bobo :-)
