Zappanale TV

Did you already hear about it? This Zappanale TV shows some video recordings – another band each month. For now: Bogus Pomp.
Sounding good – again. (Although the drums are a bit too noisy, but anyway, it’s not a CD…).

Hey, they even play G-Spot Tornado! (and: Black Napkins, a bit of Black Page, Pound For A Brown… – and who knows what else.)

Very nice version of Big Swifty!

just a quick thought….didn’t zappa himself not want watermelon in easter hay played other by himself (which is unbearably sad that it can’t happen) or dweezil?

  5. Balint says:

Why should he had wanted that?…

i just read it on zappa.com under whats new and under FAQ. gail answers the question someone asked.

  7. SOFA says:

There were supposedly 3 tunes (maybe 4) that FZ claimed – in an interview – that he didn’t want played by anyone else (other than Dwwezil?), because he believed there couldn’t be “justice done”. ‘Watermelon’ is one; Black Napkins and Zoot Allures are two more; there may be another – I can’t recall right now..
I guess I can see Frank’s point. He played those tunes countless times, and there were only a few he deemed worthy to release.
Anyone – well, not anyone, but anyone with talent – can play them well. But, play them brilliantly?
I think that performing the “Holy 3” – could be 4, dammit, I wish I could remember – is what got Ike on bad terms with Gail.
    Just an opinion…

    Great stuff
