Wolfgang’s Vault

Very cool: a bunch of Zappa/Mothers posters and handbills for viewing and purchasing (IF you have the money!). Some postcards and original “fine art prints” there as well. (Thanks Danny!)

Are there really people out there who pay that kind of money for an old poster?

    Or a Tee Shirt @
    40 bucks?
I never really liked BG anyway.
Does he still need mega bucks in the grave?

I know, I know I need to have a sense of humor about this…but I did wretch when I saw who wolfgang was. The little snide “If you got yhe bucks” comment is a bit revolting.

I can’t imagine there are folks who will pay though kind of dough for artwork designed by some marketing guy having nothing to do with the artist, but I guess there are. Nostalgia does funny things.

Somewhere I heard they have an incredible store of concert tapes. Maybe it was here? Anyway, just another vault with legendary contents…think we’ll ever get to hear any of it?

Bill Graham helped elevate some styles of rock music that may have otherwise been doomed to obscurity if the artists had relied on their own devices for promotion. And the bands knew that, begrudgingly. He truly knew “something was happening” and added a little elegance to the proceedings. Of course, the whole rock and roll promotion and presentation became very BIG out of necessity (the bands were greedy as well) to provide for the obscenely huge audience that was created.

The posters and handbills are considered works of art, created by some fine graphic artists. They sell for a helluva lot more in the collectors circuit.

Not to mention that without Bill, there would be no Fillmore East album! This from an unashamed Vaudeville Band fan! So there!

I didn’t realize this was going to be a court case. Geeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzz!

But basically, this stuff is junk. Even if the majority of boomers want to pretend it’s high art. (Witness the crap Grace Slick peddles as art.)
These flyers etc are a kind of art, often skillfully done. They do, however, reek of strawberry incnese.

Yea, he may have known something was happening – so did several others.

    He doesn’t warrant diefication though.

    Another question.
Why are these Blog spots etc just forums for people to argue back and forth as well serve for platforms for people all claiming to have insider info on their fave rave pop stars?

(I’m not saying that’s all that goes on HERE…but it is something I’m noticing in cyberspace

    * There’s more innocence and joy here than I’ve seen on other spaces…
