    Cool!
Did you ask him about the tree house?

  2. Dr Sharleena says:

Unfortunately, no (i didn’t know about the tree house story until now tho’. Interesting!
I did want to ask him if he has met Frank during his years in Laurel Canyon, but how do you get to that point? “Mr Mayall, i am in fact a Frank Zappa fan, and would like to know…”
No, that, you just can’t. Didn’t have enough time anyway…

  3. SOFA says:

    Understand about the time…
I would have tied Mayall & FZ together by asking something about Clapton. But John may have not been on very good terms with Eric around that time – or even today, for all I know…

  4. Hey anybody want to buy a John Mayall LP signed by the man himself? Meet me on eBay!

    (I kid! I kid!)

  5. Eric Anderson says:

There was a song about FZ called “2401” on Mayall’s 1968 album “Blues From Laurel Canyon”.
Don’t know if they actually met though.

I met Frank in New York in Jan 68 and he let me stay at his house for a few
days in the summer of that year. (2401) We never played together but were
very good friends throughout his life.

I wish I woulda known! Thanks for the juicy article.
What’s with log cabins in Laurel Canyon? They get on fire like nothing… From http://www.johnmayall.com/bio.html :
“And extreme misfortune came his way when a brush fire destroyed his hand-crafted and legendary Laurel Canyon home, taking with it his scrupulously-kept diaries, his father’s diaries, master recordings, extensive book & magazine collections, Mayall artwork, and much much more. Determined to rise from the ashes, Mayall persevered.”
