Alphonso couldn’t have played that bass solo with a pick (or a plectrum as we inhabitants of the British Isles hardly ever call it – a pleccy maybe)
I used to listen to this sort of stuff a lot back then, but the guitar solo sounds horrible to me now.
Il Dukey sounds pretty good, though, IMO.
I for one love the guitar solo. The whole band is just tight and Juicy. I made myself a tape (yes a tape) to play in my car on these hot summer days. IMHO fusion is the sound of summer in the city…
As opposed to the song of that name…
