What’s With The Lukewarm Poop?

An eloquent title if ever I saw one, as you’ll surely agree. Anyway, you may have noticed yesterday’s post which consisted merely of a bunch of links and a bit of light commentary. What’s up with that?

Well, every day I come across links that I figure could be of some interest to you, but don’t warrant a full post of their own (or I don’t have time to turn them into one). I either spot these in my RSS reader, or oftentimes because one of you has sent them to me via email.

Using my del.icio.us account, I’m now bookmarking those, and with the magic of a little WordPress plugin, they will then show up here all neatly bundled into one post.

So if you come across a page, site, article, video clip that you think would fit a Delicious Links entry, by all means: do drop me a note. It’ll either show up here in one way or another — or it won’t. Don’t get mad at me when that happens. Remember: such is life. ;)

Blogging, writing or making music, writing a book, farming, etc. – it all comes down to the same. It’s 20% pleasure and 80% sweat.

Remember FZ in the flower power period. He disliked it ( too much, mere pleasure). What did he do? He started structuring madness. Sorry ’bout going back to an old master, a W. Shakespeare quote – ” there’s a system in his madness”. Conceptual continuity.

  2. Let me summarize my post for you bernard: as of now, there will be posts every so often that contain links and a short subscription. I did this because sometimes I don’t have the time to make a separate post about the link, or because the link does not warrant a full post.

Now, tell me how your comment:

… in any way relates to this post.

I have nothing against you commenting here bernard, but you must realize that, quite often I might add, your comments elude/irritate (take your pick) because their content has nothing to do with the topic at hand, instead serving as a means by which you get to express what is currently on your mind.

That, my friend, is to cross an unwritten commenter law, and an indication that you should vent those thoughts on a weblog of your own. I say this with the best of intentions, because before you know it you’ll be considered by many here as a troll. And you know what happens to trolls.

Sheesh, who are the brain police, eh?

I know its your blog, Barry but don’t you think that’s a bit heavy handed? I mean its not as if he’s going round insulting people or anything. And most posts he makes mention Zappa, at least in passing.

I wouldn’t call him a troll, for starters. Just a bit off topic at times. And for a blog which attracts FZ fans, you’ve gotta expect a fairly varied group of people with different views, different posting styles etc, people with different first languages and very different senses of humour.

I hope I don’t get a slagging for this, and I by no means intend to defend to the death Bernards posts, but, you know, there’s far worse people out there on the net…

Saying all that, the final say is, obviously, yours, Barry. ust my twopennys worth.

Consider yourself banned from Utopia! I kid, I kid… :)

That’s a misnomer, I fully agree. Some who read this weblog might think differently though, that was my point.

Absolutely. None of those criteria however justify treating a comment form as one’s very own personal little mini off-topic soapbox.

    Ahhhh, The Ban from Utopia!

But seriously this is a cool place to come and read some informed and good natured postings. I likes it…

That’s part of the Belgian Invention/ Innovation. One example : this blog. Other minor cultures actually are doing / delivering just the same great result.

    BE.

I do not even mention Adolphe Sax, the mother of invention of , yes , just one musical instrument, the Saxophone.

Just another current day example :
Daan Vandewalle performing Alvin Currans Inner Cities.

  7. @ giantalbinopenguin: I updated my comment above a little bit, just to make things clear. Now then: beer’s in the fridge. Feel free to grab yourself one! ;)

The original link is gone, but what? Was Gail suing the furniture store over the use of the word “sofa”? ;-)

  9. Duncan says:

    Firm’s apology over Zappa ad
A Canadian furniture store has apologised to the widow of musician Frank Zappa for using one of his songs without permission in a TV commercial.
Ameublements Tanguay issued a letter of apology to the Zappa family as part of an out-of-court settlement. Details of monetary compensation were not issued.

Zappa’s widow, Gail, complained of copyright infringement in a case heard by the Federal Court Of Canada.

The company had used Zappa’s song Watermelon In Easter Hay in a 1995 ad.

    From BBC News

  10. Hank Peters says:

Frank specifically stated that he didn’t want Watermelon (and two other songs) to be “played in any media except the album where it appeared”, so I can kinda see why Gail would want to respect Frank’s wishes. Although six years later she lets the song be used in “Y Tu Mama Tambien”, so I don’t really know what to think.

bernard’s comments do indeed irritate me. as a matter of fact, when i see his name, i skip to the next comment. i ignore them. ya gotta do that, and eventually, they disappear. Oops. Isn’t this called “flaming”? Don’t mean to. Just ignore me then…..

Where I come from, there is very little lukewarm poop: either hot poop or cold poop. Yet, if one comes across said poop at just the right time, and pokes it with a stick, a nice bit of steam just might emerge from the hardened piece of crap. The FZ moral here? If you like it, great! If you think it sucks, great! Just don’t interfere with your neighbor’s thrill…
